FAQs
Who can join AOCC?
Anyone! We don’t audition or require people to have prior singing experience. We learn by ear so there’s no need to be able to read music and you’ll gain access to recordings of all the songs we learn in the Member’s section of this website.
At times we may have to close to new members however we do maintain a waiting list and will notify people as soon as we can take on more members.
When and where do we rehearse?
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings during school term times at Strathmore Infant and Nursery School, Old Hale Way, Hitchin, SG5 1XR. We start at 7.30pm until 8.45pm.
How much does it cost?
For prospective new members, the first Taster Session is free however if you decide to join us this will be paid for within your termly fee.
The fee per term is £75.00 (for a minimum of ten weeks). There is no charge for under 18's.
What do the fees cover?
Venue hire, tutor fees, song arrangements, day to day administration, insurance, online presence, equipment.
Can I drop in weekly?
Booking your place is only done on a termly basis to ensure we can work together on songs effectively.
What if I can’t make a week?
We’re now live streaming our rehearsals on our private member’s Facebook group with the videos being available for 30 days so you won’t miss out!
Can I cancel my membership?
You can cancel at any time but fees are non refundable.
Do I have to take part in performances?
There’s no pressure to take part in any performances. You’re welcome to take part as much or as little as you like. On occasion we’re limited on numbers by the performance venue/location and we need to ensure the sound is balanced. This does mean that sometimes not everyone will get to perform who has put their name forward.
Do I need an AOCC t-shirt or hoodie?
AOCC t-shirts and hoodies aren’t compulsory but we’d love everyone to wear our uniform for public performances.
Can I buy choir membership for someone as a gift?
Yes! We have print at home gift vouchers available! Just use the Contact form to message us with your enquiry and we’ll get back to you.
How do I access the live stream?
You need to join the member’s only Facebook page (“as one community choir members”). Once you’re a member you’ll be able to access the live stream each week.
